"TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY, JOYFUL + JUBILANT...AND THIS YEAR WE ARE SEEKING AS MUCH FRIVOLITY AS WE CAN GET, BECAUSE 2020 HAS BEEN ONE HELL OF A RIDE."
Who knew when we wrote these words last year that we'd be back in the same position in 2021? Once again, we are approaching Christmas + the festive season with an overwhelming desire to celebrate with loved ones we have been apart from during yet more Melbourne lockdowns. The SB team are planning gifts + decorations + vegan feasts aplenty, and it's just so good to have something to look forward to.
We're not fans of the extensive waste that Christmas often brings, so we really don't advocate a frenzied haul of purchases when it comes to gift buying. Our ethos of buying only what you - or someone else - will love doesn't get shelved for the festive season.
Instead, we have put together our 2021 Gift Guide for those that need some help with ideas - or as a gentle prompt you can send to partners, parents + friends who may be at a loss to find the cruelty free treasures you seek.
To create our Gift Guide, we shot these images on up + coming singer/songwriter Indigo King, and the man behind the lens is Billy Toka. Shot around our local neighbourhood of Brunswick, on a perfect Spring day in lockdown. We believe in supporting young creatives in their brave endeavours to make a difference in the world + loved working with these two talented individuals.
Here's our feast of festive picks for all the animal loving, style seeking humans in your life.
Chameleons seek a bag that caters to their multi faceted life. It's got to go from work to play + offer hands free ease of carrying. We suggest the Francisco Cactus Crossbody Bag, made from an organic cactus leather alternative from Desserto. Wear as a shoulder bag or crossbody, remove the strap to carry as a clutch, or add a feature bag strap to up the glamour.
Or you could opt for the High Road Convertible Vegan Backpack, that can be worn hands free as a traditional backpack, or on the shoulder as a tote bag using a single strap. Both straps can be detached to carry by the handle, too. Truly, a chameleon bag.
Work life has looked different for many this year, but the need for a stylish receptacle for all things tech + work related hasn't disappeared. The Archive Tote in Olive green, Mahogany or Noir (black) is the perfect choice for Boss beauties, with space for either a 13 or 15 inch laptop plus all manner of work accoutrements.
Alternatively the Activist Tote offers a less structured option + a more fashion look, while still catering to the practical requirements of a work bag. It's a bit more bold in showing off its cruelty free credentials, with our logo + wordmark loud and proud. The Activist comes in Chestnut, Spearmint + Noir / Midnight.
Our cosmopolitan friends are looking for a special bag for all the occasions that fill up their dance card. And if they've been in lockdown, it's time to get dressed up again + have some fun. The Reader Satchel or Long Lunch Mini Tote in Dragonfruit Pink fit the bill beautifully for these social butterflies, bringing a sense of occasion + frivolity. It's a rich, saturated pink that eschews subtlety and says "I'm here for fun."
If pink is not their vibe, you could opt for a Pearl White beauty, like the Long Lunch Mini Tote or Reader Satchel. Pearl hints at summer days + warmer nights, but also works just as well with a monochrome outfit all year round.
Be it small, medium or large, this loved one wants a practical + beautiful bag to take on their travels, near or far. With travel for Australians so restricted these past 18 months, the idea of travelling further than our local neighbourhood is rather heady + we are so here for it.
The High Road Mini vegan crossbody bag brings a fashion look to a super practical bag. It has a structured + elongated shape with a roomy interior, and two magnetic closures to keep treasures secure.
The Bright Spark can be worn as a crossbody or belt bag, giving super easy access to phone, passport + essentials. It's constructed from recycled PU in a robust pebbled surface that's Global Recycled Standard certified.

Sorting your friends + loved ones by their personality may not be your thing, so we've also created some suggestions by pricepoint to make it super easy. We've got you covered from all angles for this gifting season.
