It's week three of WFH / Iso life for us - and possibly week 4 or 5 for some of you. Tough times out there, and watching the news nightly (ok, sometimes more regularly) can prompt feelings of worry, anxiety + even, despair.
As I talk to friends, family, ex-colleagues, contemporaries in the fashion space - and anyone else who's up for a conversation right now: I hear how varied everyone's day is, and how we each have our own coping mechanisms.
I have had some super down days - I still work, and get shit done, but the mojo hasn't always flowed. It's an almost fatalistic, 'well we might as well just hang up the shoulder straps + call it a day' type mood. Well. Thank the good fairies that hold up the universe + whatever other spirit animal or being, one may look to for guidance - 'cos that mood has been marched out the door quick sticks.
I've no idea what the world will look like in 3, 6, 12 months time, and I've given up trying to work it out. For now, I am concerned with keeping myself, our small team + the Sans Beast biz, inspired + inspiring. I love our brand + am committed to the philosophy, so we're not going anywhere.
We've had to pop a sale on to get things moving a little - hope you find something that offers you a treat. It's a tough market for everyone right now - small + big business, as well as ALL the employees out there who are nervous about what the here + now looks like, let alone the future. Thankfully the government stimulus packages will help many.
Sadly, it also continues to be a horrific time for farmed animals - and for the workers who have to turn up to work each day to fulfil their brutal roles. Now more than ever, as we experience this zoonotic disease pandemic, we ask that you consider where your purchases are coming from, and if a sentient being has lost its life for the food + fashion in your cart. Even if ethics can be put aside, environmentally, we are at a cross roads + must face up to our unsustainable relationship with animals on our beautiful planet.
Wishing you all a peaceful + positive long weekend - I hope you are managing to navigate the ups + downs of this turbulent time, and finding nuggets of inspiration around you. I'm certainly seeing an amplification of supportive messaging in the world - and I do think we need to focus on connecting with positivity, versus fear. Sending energy + strength to help you on this voyage where the shores are not so clear.
Stay safe, healthy + home.
