WELCOME TO OUR SERIES 04 : THE AFTERGLOW OF MUTINY. WHEN WE STARTED PUTTING DOWN COLOURS + TEXTURES FOR THIS COLLECTION, IT WAS CLEAR THAT A DESERT ISLAND FEELING WAS PERCOLATING....
Then with further thought (and reading of the book 'Be More Pirate' by Sam Conniff Allende) the story evolved to one of rebellion against tyranny. We were inspired by the feeling of walking a different path - the bravery required to stand up + fight for what you believe in. Sometimes this requires mutiny…and sometimes it means throwing yourself overboard to swim to new shores.
Maybe some people don't care where inspiration comes from for a collection - or a shoot for that matter - because it's the end result that matters to them. But, for us, imagining a narrative + then creating the visual storytelling is one of the most enjoyable aspects of building a creative world. We couldn't do what we do, without a little story to underpin it.
Once that story is clear + the concept is visualised - gathering collaborators on the same page is essential to bring the thoughts to reality + to add creative wisdom to the mix. Our collaborators on this shoot for Series 04 are: photography + incredible retouching by Cubed Studio, Styling + art direction input from Mette Pors, Videography + film editing Bianca Fusca Films. Concept, HMU + production by our small but mighty Sans Beast team.
