Our most popular work tote reimagined as a backpack: the XL Universo Backpack in Forest Green features padded straps for commuting comfort, a rear luggage sleeve for travel ease + space for up to a 16 inch laptop. Internal compartments + our distinctive external pockets keep essentials organised and close at hand, while the rich Forest tone gets noticed.

I noticed the black XL Universo Backpack is listed as sold out and wanted to make sure that the clever people at Sans Beast will make more, as I LOVE mine and will look to replace it if/when it retires from duty!
I bought the bag last March, and have used it min. 3days a week when home and and for extended work trips to 4 different continents, and it has been amazing.
Pros:
- Looks lovely; much more elegant than 99.9% of backpacks! I have had many compliments on it.
- It can fit a lot of stuff in it, so for over-packers like me or for those who hit the gym straight from work, it is great
- It fixes neatly onto the handle of the small wheelie case I also take with me, so you dont have to carry a heavy bag on your back as you mooch around airports
- The hanndles on top - being able to pick it up or hold it like a tote is a really good feature
Possible improvements:
- There is no place for a damp umbrella. Perhaps a couple of straps or a little stretchy pouch on the outside, on one side would be a solve for this?
- Adding a key clip inside the bag (there is one on the outside, but its not safe to walk around with keys dangling on the back of your bag, espcially whilst travelling). Fishing out keys somewhere in a full backpack can be a bit frustrating
- The laptop pouch isn't seperate from the rest of the bag, which means if it is fully jam-packed for travel, getting the laptop out for Airport security and then squeezing back in can be tricky. Having this as a completely…

This bag is beautiful. The laptop pocked is spacious as is the main section of the bag. It is very large - don't underestimate the 'XL' part in the name. I ended up reselling it a week after purchase because it was too large for my short torso which meant that it was bouncing off of my tailbone on the shortest strap setting. I also didn't appreciate the rain getting into the bag so easily during a light shower on my short walk to the train station. I would love to see a smaller version with any other coloured hardware, and the top be completely enclosed. Sans Beast are still my favourite bags and I will always be a returning customer, this one just didn't work for me personally.

I had this bag sitting in my cart for weeks, not sure whether to take the risk on buying something I hadn't seen in real life. When I took the plunge, I need not had ever worried! This bag is beautiful! So spacious, the compartments are so thoughtfully designed, and immaculately executed. It's really comfortable to wear, and lighter than it looks. The bag is well made and has lots of pockets, including glasses. I love the magnets that secure the zip. I really wanted to love it, the bag has many positive points. But, it's exceptionally heavy. By the time I've added my water bottle, coffee cup and lunch the bag is cumbersome to lift and makes it difficult on busy public transport. I hate to say. I feel like I've made an expensive mistake.
