Come behind the scenes of Sans Beast to discover how our collections are crafted.
Our process is slow + deeply considered. We value the connection we have with our team, our makers, our community, collaborators + charity partners.
DESIGN
We sketch + design everything in our Brunswick studio, and build our ranges with love for our craft + respect for the making process.
We produce most of our bags with a brilliant partner + team at Xiongxin Handbags in Dongguan, southern China
Our Maker's View films provide some insight into our design process + how closely linked it has always been to our relationships with our makers.
SAMPLING + PRODUCTION
Materials, hardware, topstitch, edgepaint, lining, pockets + all the construction in between is discussed + worked through by our small team at Sans Beast HQ and the factory.
In order to get the styles right, we do at least two rounds of sampling, plus a full coloured range of samples for photography + press, and this process can take up to 6 months.
We mean it when we say we value slower fashion.
SLOW IS BEAUTIFUL
Our collections are a combination of signature, ongoing pieces + a selection of new styles.
We invest a lot of time into designing + developing our styles, sampling materials + creating hardware moulds. Our partner factories also invest in cutting moulds, R+D and sampling.
It's respectful of this investment to keep the styles going in our range for as long as possible.
SIGNATURES
This is where our Signature range comes in. When a style proves itself to be a consistent best seller, it joins our Signature range. This is our foundational, classic offering, reviewed yearly. If a style is in this collection, it's not eligible for promotional sale activity.

We've signed the Fashion Revolution Manifesto as our commitment to transparency, accountability + ethical practices.
We work only with Sedex-audited makers to ensure social compliance is in place, fair + living wages are upheld, insurance is covered where appropriate, environments are safe + the right to negotiate with management is an embedded facet in the workplace.
PACKAGING
Having taken care to choose thoughtful design, responsible fabrics + a slower cycle overall, we wouldn’t package our products in just anything when sending to customers.
We continue with our considered approach, choosing local businesses + recycled materials for all our packaging.
GIVING BACK
Every purchase you make with Sans Beast supports our Giving program, providing funds for organisations including Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary + the Bob Brown Foundation.
We will continue to find ways to give back to the community + raise awareness of the plight of exploited animals, ocean + land.
