Whether it's for environmental or ethical reasons, more + more people are seeking alternatives to leather in the fashion space. The term 'vegan leather' has gained in popularity as a result. What does this mean, what are the options, is it better or worse for the environment? For Sans Beast, ethics will always be a fundamental element of this conversation - we don't believe animals should suffer for our fashion choices - however for many, it's a bigger conversation around the environment + finite resources, that resonates. We attempt to offer some insight on this subject in this blog post.
Our new collection Series 09: Grounded is here, showcasing our signature styles in new season shades, plus a sprinkling of exciting new shapes to bring cruelty free joy + function to your life. See what's new at Sans Beast.
Our new collection Series 8: Elemental introduces a palette inspired by nature, with shades of olive, beetroot, moss + wheat. Discover what's new - and what's not - at Sans Beast.
We've put together a vegan gift guide of some Sans Beast bag suggestions, along with a list of favourite vegan + ethical small businesses in Australia, that would no doubt love your support in these (still) challenging post pandemic times. Happy festivus from us to you.
Nick Pearce is Co-founder + CEO of HoMie, a Melbourne based retail brand that uses its profits to provide training + employment opportunities for youth experiencing homelessness. We caught up with Nick to talk about how HoMie came about + the challenges facing young people living rough.
Sustainability is the buzzword of the moment. We don't profess perfection, but we have made some intentional choices in our manufacturing, materials + packaging that keep us on a path we are proud of.
Our founder Cathryn reflects on 5 years of Sans Beast. Never one to shy away from open + transparent language, Cathryn discusses the highs + lows of building our wonderful brand.
Another year of running a small, purpose led, vegan friendly business has brought learnings, challenges, wins + losses. So much has happened this year + as someone who likes to reflect + improve, I've written this post to share a few of the moments of clarity that struck this year. Always grateful for what we've built + for the wise, creative + talented folk we work with - and for you, the community growing with us day by day.
Sourcing materials is a major part of creating our vegan handbag collections at Sans Beast. With our core mission to use no animal products, we take a look at the range of biobased + manmade materials currently available for non leather handbags, and talk you through some of the issues in selecting the right materials. Cost, minimums, freight + commercial availability are all factors that come into play when we're compiling our wishlist for new collections.
2020 has been tumultuous so far + Sans Beast has not been immune to the challenges. As a niche, vegan handbag brand celebrating our second birthday in March, it was a rude awakening to follow the blowing out of the birthday candles with a new acronym + lifestyle - WFH. However this post is not about doom + gloom, it's about celebrating creativity, getting excited about a new collection, recognising the power (and importance) of collaboration + enjoying the notion of blooming again.
Amanda Leigh Walker is the Co-founder + Head of Operations of vegan fast food institution, Lord of the Fries. She's also a life coach + teaches people how to recalibrate their power, lead with love, live authentically + with purpose. We caught up to discuss her journey from french fry mogul to spiritual healer. We could all do with some healing right now - we hope you enjoy this conversation. And for those who haven't tried the fries - we strongly encourage you to do so. Everyone needs a salty potato treat to cheer up an iso day.
