Emma Hakansson has been a friend of Sans Beast, as well as an occasional face of the brand, since 'the beginning'. She is a woman who wears many hats, and applies her talents + time, to making a difference in this life. A passionate advocate for animals, a soon to be published author, a model + a content creator, Emma is someone who walks her talk. We hope you'll enjoy reading about this inspiring creative creature.
2020 has been tumultuous so far + Sans Beast has not been immune to the challenges. As a niche, vegan handbag brand celebrating our second birthday in March, it was a rude awakening to follow the blowing out of the birthday candles with a new acronym + lifestyle - WFH. However this post is not about doom + gloom, it's about celebrating creativity, getting excited about a new collection, recognising the power (and importance) of collaboration + enjoying the notion of blooming again.
Amanda Leigh Walker is the Co-founder + Head of Operations of vegan fast food institution, Lord of the Fries. She's also a life coach + teaches people how to recalibrate their power, lead with love, live authentically + with purpose. We caught up to discuss her journey from french fry mogul to spiritual healer. We could all do with some healing right now - we hope you enjoy this conversation. And for those who haven't tried the fries - we strongly encourage you to do so. Everyone needs a salty potato treat to cheer up an iso day.
INSPIRATION: SERIES 5 SHOOT, THE ILLUMINATED FIFTH.

Read about our inspiration, our collaborators + why we felt so strongly about getting illuminated, for our Series 05 photographic campaign. In a time of unrest in the world, let us stand up + do better by each other, the animals + the environment. Let us prove we are worthy of being stardust.
"As we approach the end of 2019, not only are we getting ready to bid farewell to another year, it's time also to ponder the fact that it's not just a new year that's about to start - it's a new decade. 5 years ago, Sans Beast wasn't even a thought in my mind. Fast-forwarding to the dawn of the 2020's - and I couldn't imagine being in a different place. Love, CW."
Responsible fashion choices that respect people, animals and our planet should be the norm, not a trend. We share some thoughts + tips for being a more conscious consumer this festive season (and beyond). We wish you the happiest of festive seasons + a beautiful 2020 ahead.
We've been a fan of Karissa's style + authentic approach to telling her story, since day 1 of Sans Beast. As Creative Director of fashion + lifestyle blog, Tomgirl + Threads, Karissa Sparke believes in a conscious lifestyle. This involves plant based eating, slow living + treading lightly on our planet. She's renowned for her effortless style, her travel + beach adventures - and her growing menagerie of furry friends, including Bean + more recently, the heavenly Peanut. We caught up with Karissa to talk life, inspiration + how an avid traveller has adjusted to living life in lockdown.
Pam Ahern is the founder + owner of Edgar's Mission. A former equestrian champion, a chance encounter with a trotter named Edgar Alan Pig saw her give up her full time job + create a haven for farm animals which she built from the ground up. We caught up with her to talk about her incredible + inspiring journey.
When times are confusing, challenging, lonely or isolating...or all of the above - we all need go-to mechanisms to call on for help in resilience. Our small team share their favourite books, podcasts, vegan eats + words of wisdom, for keeping it real during dark times. Sometimes we just need to get out of our own heads + ride out the storm.
Welcoming in a new year often brings with it plans for lofty resolutions. However, instead of feeling like a failure in week one of January with broken promises to self - we think it's best to be gentle on yourself + make an easy (and do-able) list of farewells / hellos for the year ahead. The Sans Beast team have put together a shortlist of things we're leaving behind in 2019 + things we're going to manifest. Read on for a dose of inspiration for making 2020 a year of illuminated action.
CW went to the stunning K'gari in September (2019). It was a a yoga retreat with the inspiring Ashley Freeman + a bunch of like minded women, all intent on recharging, moving their bodies, soaking up the natural environment.. and eating mouth-watering vegan food for 7 days + nights. Josh was the chef for the week + by all accounts, the meals were incredible. Cath writes about her stay on K'Gari + chats to Josh about how he manages to cook inspiring, colourful + healthy plant based meals, while travelling + living in a van.
We asked musician Holly Rankin (aka Jack River) + Jess Cochrane to share some of their thoughts on the environment, the human condition, the future + quite simply, how they respond to the noise, through their creativity. We came away from these chats inspired + uplifted. Art + music are two powerful mediums for human connection - we could all do with more of these in our lives.
